About

The Monthly Breeze is an electronic ‘zine published monthly (most of the time). First published in July of 2004, it’s sole author, editor and graphic designer was Breeze Vincinz.

The mission of the Monthly Breeze is to respond to the misconception that the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) community is one ethnically monolithic brood. The idea being that the LGBT community is a vibrant, multihued population and, much like a quilt, is made up of different colors. However, the one thread, the one thing that binds us all together, is our sexuality.

The logline of the Monthly Breeze is “Addressing the needs of the upwardly immobile African American Homosexual” and was meant to be a sarcastic albeit biased comment on how many Americans either fall short of, are haunted by or are drowning in the pursuit of the “American Dream.”

A send up of The Onion, Paper Magazine and Gonzo Journalism, the Monthly Breeze strives to create a literati community of color that self identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or transgender that uses personal experiences and emotions to provide context on culture, art, spirituality, sexuality and nightlife.
